David A. Arnold Hosts Black Men Revealed By Mybrotha.COM Staff Writer - July 15, 2007
Silver Spring, MD - It isn't often we find a group of Black men openly discussing love and marriage, shacking, deadbeat dads, flamboyant preachers, and interracial dating -- but that's exactly what you will find on TV One's new hit series Black Men Revealed, airing Sundays at 2:00pm (EST).
With an exclusive Hollywood Hills apartment as the backdrop, Black Men Revealed offers genuine dialogue between four African-American men who engage in a full hour of energetic conversation. The show lets viewers, especially Black women, explore the thought processes of men and reveals the responses and reactions Black men have to various life situations.
Hosted by actor/comedian David A. Arnold, the show acknowledges and embraces Black men from varying backgrounds and covers topics other shows are afraid to touch. Recent episodes include: "Why He Won't Go to Church," "Dark Skin vs. Light Skin," and "Crazy in Love or Just Crazy." These topics, and several others featured on the show may seem risqué -- but it's the type of information people want to talk about.
"So far we have not been banned from any subject matter by the TV One network executives, but then again we've only done eight shows," says Arnold, who gets each show started with a hot topic and a game of dominoes. "I'm sure as time goes on and they do more shows, they may cross a line that the networks have drawn in the sand."
Even if the show's discussions begin to cross a line, it may come as a welcome change for many viewers who seldom see this type of discourse in a roundtable format. Four brothas, with sometimes four different opinions -- can lead to some very interesting debates and TV One spared no expense when matching personalities for each episode.
"The men that were chosen to be on the show was done several different ways. We have an incredible team of producers that have worked on other talk shows including The Oprah Winfrey Show. They kept some of those relationships in tact and that allowed us to call certain guests to do our show," Arnold explained to Mybrotha.COM. "Others were friends of producers and the show's creators, and some I knew. One thing in common of all guests is that they have a diverse take or outlook on the shows topic for that week. How they will select guests for this season, I have no idea but I'm sure it will only get better."
An established comedian and actor, David A. Arnold takes storytelling and his insight on relationships to a whole new level when he takes the stage. He can be heard on his comedy CD "Cause I Gotta go to Work in the Morning", available in all major music outlets across the country.
In addition to hosting Black Men Revealed, Arnold has also added writer/director to his long list of accomplishments by releasing a series of his short films "Because My Stand Up Is Not Enough!", "Til' Death Do Us Part?", and "The Garage Sale."
David has performed at the Montreal "Just for Laughs" Comedy Festival, a segment entitled "The Masters" as well as an appearances on Comedy Central’s Laffapalooza with Jamie Foxx and Cedric the Entertainer, The Tom Joyner Show, BET’s ComicView, HBO’s Entourage, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
