Just bought a new computer
Ahhh first new computer in like 4-5 years! It's refreshing to actually have some speed back for a change.

I bought a Mac mini

http://www.apple.com/macmini/

I've bought and sold Macs before and I have now 5 computers at home of varying ages. However my new mini is very cool. DVD Burner, Wireless Networking, nice software bundle and when it's sleeping it's dead quiet. Makes my PC sound like a lawn mower by comparison.

I think I'll need a laptop next for 'puter #6. What you can do with these things nowadays is truly amazing.

Funny you mention a computer. I sent the dudes at mybrotha a email the other day asking if they would have a computer forum. Somebody email me back and said they would have a technology forum but I dont see one yet.

I still play with pc. Only seen the macs a few times at work but I never mess with 'em. I hear they have better graphics then pc.

Willie I was about to do the same thing! Heck we all have computers if we're posting to a messageboard. .

Well I can tell you that a Mac is very slick. You can tell they go the extra mile in the user interface and look and feel.

Mac mini's are cool looking as is most of the Apple product line. My only issue with them is they are not as upgradeable like a PC.

For my money I will always get a PC(or build my own for that matter).

By the way both my PC and Laptop are whisper quiet. the main reason PC's are noisy is because of dust buildup. Clean it out and it too shall be quiet.

I build my own PCs as well and I'll build an AMD Dual Core next year but I can't compute without my Macs. OS X to me is simply much better than XP.

Now that's modding the right way. Are you into games or do you do just a bit of everything?

Im into a bit of every thing , laptops i buy fix and sell on ebay with new operating systems , if im not to busy i will play a few games such as quake 3 , doom3 , call of duty , mainly first person shooter games . Theres alot of underground hot spots where people get together at some one's wear house , store or home and set up a network to play under one roof theres people of all ages even 70 year old men with coolers filled with beer playing having a ball , they also have online clans , there own built vertual war ground where they simply practice to go against other teams for next months battle .

I think its realy interesting, you learn new ways to mod your machine ,new tech tools and much more .

Wolfgang

You keep up the modding, gaming, all of it. I live and work in Japan as a support engineer for a very large computer manufacturer. Before that I did Field Support work for a SAN solutions provider. This meant me going onsite to customers like US NAVY, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, NASA, NSA, and others smaller or bigger. In the 10+ years Ive been at this, I HAVENT seen many Black faces in the ranks of IT.

Oddly enough, I owe my CAREER to a Black engineer I only met once, and never heard from again. He pointed me in the right direction regarding my IT education, and it led me to work Ive done over the years.

While you could say it started with my love of computers and video games as a child (actually OWNED PONG, saw Tron and Star Wars in the theaters opening weekends), my work in this field really got its boost with repairing systems at home. Networking systems for gaming. getting a rep for being able to save systems others couldnt.

But all that noise began with Pong, and later the Atari 2600.

Keep it up. It DOES go somehwere.
