Barry Bonds and Steroids
The news dont look too good for Barry Bonds. I dont know how truthful the book is, that the San Fran newspaper guys wrote, but the news stories sounded kinda bad.

Everybody could see that Bonds bulked up over the past 6 baseball seasons but I think steriods in baseball has been allowed for so long, nobody paid attention.

I guess he will use the same defense as the other players "I was only taking things my trainer gave me. I trusted my trainer and had no reason to question what he gave me."

Hmmm!

A lot of those players are juicing. I noticed a few years ago when Baseball players started looking more like football players.

Bonds ...IMO is and has been juicing for some time. Packing on 15lbs of muscle over a season is unnatural. Ask any gym rat who's natural and they'll tell you how hard that is.

It's just a shame that the records books are tainted with steroid stats.

Yep. I work out pretty often and you cannot put on 15lbs of muscle in a few weeks. Probably not even two months.

Not naturally anyway!

Do a search for "the clear" or "the cream" and that seems to be the steroids that BALCO was accused of giving to athletes.

Well, I don't know much about baseball or steroids, but I have seen Mr. Bonds in the news a lot over the past couple of years.

It's a crying shame when people will seemingly do anything to win!

Like I said before, I don't watch baseball (or most sports for that matter), but it's a shame when there are unethical athletes who will do anything to be better than the next guy.

This has happened often during the Olympics (with female athletes too) where someone uses steroids to increase their speed or ability.

Reminds me of being in school. There are those who will cheat on exams and not think twice about it. Those of use who have some since of morality will feel like crap if we know that we've gotten ahead on false pretenses.

It's kind of funny how much press Barry is getting, compared to Mark McGuire or Bill Romonowski.

Barry Bonds is still playing baseball and he will be in the press as long as he play baseball cause this steriods story is not going away.He is attempting to break Hank AAron homerun record and that I am not happy for cause he has use steriods, knowningly or not knowningly. He use it and that's the bottom line. His trainers r going down for him and see if he would have done what Jason Giambi done. Just told the truth, Honestly, it would be all forgiven but no, he wants to hang on to his theory. U cant hide secrets. They will always come out in the end.!!!!!!!!! Im a Ny Yankees fans and Jason Giamb i told the truth to the grand jury cause he didnt want to go to jail. I dont blame the man!!!!!!!!! Now he is having another great year with the Yankees and homeruns has not diminished like Barry Bonds. Dont tell me about his knee surgery. The steriods has destroyed his body and now it is taking it toll now on him.

I agree. Jason Giambi just came out and said: "Yeah... I didn't know what it was called, but I did use it. It was a mistake, and I won't do it again." (or something to that effect)

But have you all noticed what happened to Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro, and Ken Caminiti? They all just left the game. Disappeared. Didn't want to fight it and didn't care if they left Barry to defend the whole steroid issue. Of course, Caminiti eventually died (in 2004, I think) and they never really said what caused his heartattack. But baseball folks will tell you that he was HEAVY into juicing when he played.

But Sosa, Palmeiro, and McGwire all deny that they did anything. But they also left the game so they wouldn't have to deal with the stuff Barry deal with.

Barry is greedy and wants to break that record, so he'll deal with the trash until he does.

The problem with the bonds controversy is the hypocrisy of the media and baseball officials and as usual the gullibility of the public. Many of former players, some guilty and some not, have clearly implicated the owners/officials as willing co-conspirators who encouraged this "juicing". These owners/officials were more than willing to exploit the "homerun explosion" as the fans and money poured in. The media were also willing bedpartners. They had more than enough information to investigate, but chose to look the other way; namely because the face of the home run explosion was Mark Mcguire. It was only when Jose Canseco outed guys like Mcguire and many other "untouchables i.e. "white stars", did things hit the fan.

Baseball first circled the wagons and with the help of the MEDIA, made Canseco out to be satan himself. Never even choosing to investigate what he claimed. They blackballed him because he dared someone to sue him if he was lying and wrong. Guess who didn't get sued?
Lastly, unlike the Mcguires, Palmieros, Caminitis, Sosas, etc. Bonds was never named by any GUILTY parties in this steroid scandal. These fools have been naming others to help themselves from the beginning. No Bonds? I say this admitting that I believe Bonds juiced at some point too. But the point is he never admitted and never was proven to have done so. You can't say this about ANY of the rest. The Bonds situation is nothing but a vindictive witch hunt. The media is complicit and so is the gullible public.
