When BET hosts its first annual Hip-Hop Awards at Atlanta's Fox Theatre on November 15, a lot of fans and spectators will be holding their breath. Due to a number of violent incidents at other rap/hip-hop award shows such as the Vibe Awards and the Source Hip-Hop Awards -- many wonder if BET can pull it off without any news-making incidents.
The 2006 BET Hip-Hop Awards expects to be the first of many future beat-bumpin'evenings of non-stop entertainment, celebrating the history and culture of hip-hop music. True to the culture game, the show will also feature a performance by UK rapper Sway, and reveal a category for the best hip-hop act from the UK.
An all-star list of artists are set to perform including Snoop Dogg, Diddy, T.I., Young Jeezy, The Game, Lil Wayne, Rhymefest and multi-platinum rapper Ludacris. The awards show will premiere on Wednesday, November 15 9:00p.m. (EST).
Set to host the BET Hip-Hop Awards is the flashy actor/comedian Katt Williams, who is riding high off of the success of his recent HBO stand-up comedy premiere "The Pimp Chronicles: Part I". Williams'

Also featured in the hip-hop spotlight will be the "I AM HIP-HOP Icon Award" recipient Grandmaster Flash. Over the past three decades, Flash cemented his spot in music history by becoming one of rap/hip-hop's original pioneers. He is credited with being the first DJ to play the turntables as a musical instrument.
While a number of young hip-hop talents are receiving nominations and performing on stage, viewers will also keep an eye on artist comments, demeanor, and attitude. In the past, large gatherings of various hip-hop artists have been notoriously cast as uncomfortable events due to escalating tensions between rival rappers and entourages.
Before the November 15 event, BET viewers can cast their votes at www.bet.com for their favorite video to win the Alltel Wireless People's Champ Award (Viewers' Choice). Viewers can then tune in to the ceremony to see if their chosen video won.
