Hollywood Art Brothers - The Moving Picture Company

New York, NY - Hollywood Art Brothers the moving picture company is aggressively moving in a new direction. The New York City based company is expanding with an educational division, film festival, networking party, expos and a web page that had 300 hits on opening day without any advertising! The company has opened an advertising division, and has plans to broadcast a weekly radio show in the mid west very soon.

Hollywood Art Brothers has been making films since 1960's. The name Hollywood Art Brothers was born out of the black films of the '70's. Unlike the black films today, the black films of the '70's had many different genres. During the 1970's Hollywood Art Brothers produced a number of westerns, horror, comedies, action adventure and science fiction films all on a low budget. Ironically, so did many of the major studios of the 70's.

Between 1975 to 1982, Hollywood Art Brothers owned, managed and operated a community based movie theatre. It was called the National Theatre. The theatre had sneak previews, cartoons, coming attractions, double features, intermissions, late shows, movie posters, free pop corn and trailers of "Rap Magazine" before the main feature. "Rap Magazine" was the first official publication of Hollywood Art Brothers in the '70's. The first issue was published in 1976. The publication had a film critic. Hollywood Art Brothers at the time was composed of 12 filmmaker's all whom were teenagers at the time. Each filmmaker's production company had it's own marketing plan, budget, narratives, actors, special effects, sound effects, music score, graphic titles some even had t-shirts and jackets.

Hollywood Art Brothers (Ron and Tony Carpenter) have since appeared on a number of New York City radio and cable television broadcasts. Tony Carpenter is the founder of the company. Ron Carpenter hosted his own radio show on WENY in Elmira, New York while a student at Queens College. After college, Ron Carpenter spent five years as a journalist at CBS News in New York City in local and National News. He left CBS in the late 80's to work full time as CEO of Hollywood Art Brothers. Professor Ron Carpenter has since taught thousands of students in the New York City Public Schools, St. John's University, The City University of New York and Columbia University where he won an award in 2002 for being an outstanding educator.

In the mean time Tony Carpenter continued producing films and appearing in films. He was the president of the Drama Guild at York College in the '70's while a student in college. Carpenter wrote, produced and directed a number of films in Los Angeles during the early 1980's and returned to New York City in the mid 1980' s to write, produce and direct "Spinning Target". He is the trail blazer for Hollywood Art Brothers. He produced their first drama entitled: "Changing Times" which was highly praised by the Harlem community in the early 1990's. Tony also worked with the following entertainers on Hollywood Art Brothers first feature film "Living Behind Walls" which stars Frankie Crocker from WBLS Radio in New York City, Jerald Washington from the motion picture "Just Another Girl On the IRT", and Hip-Hop superstar Raheem from the legendary group "Grand Master Flash". Often, in the late '90s Tony was guest co-host on the "Joe Franklin Radio Show" on WOR Radio in New York City. He also made a guest appearance on the PBS Special on Joe Franklin's life.

Hollywood Art Brothers is making history by currently giving Film/Video Workshops at The Magic Johnson's Theatre in Harlem, New York. They will host a film festival in 2007, expos, radio broadcasts, on-line newsletter, and much more.

Actor Lou Meyers from the hit TV sitcom "A Different World" and star of the Broadway Play "The Color Purple" praised Hollywood Art Brothers for three decades of dedication to the art of independent motions. Hollywood Art Brothers at press time was invited to partnership with Film/Video Arts one of the oldest and largest independent film organizations in the United States.
