Tulare, CA - To honor the commitment and sacrifice of our active members and veterans of military service, Howard Stroman has dedicated a canvas painting to the Geriatric Extended Care Unit (GECU) of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Central California Health Care System in Fresno, California.

The 24" X 36" canvas artwork shows the mountainous area of the Sequoia National Park with a lone tree, devoid of foliage, standing erect in the foreground, amidst rising greenery of smaller trees destined to replace it. The composition, which mirrors the geological environment of the surrounding Central California area where the artist works and lives, is meant to offer symbolism, particularly to fallen men and women veterans who pave the way for the greatness we share as a nation.

After moving from his native state of Louisiana to California in the 1950's Howard Stroman has taught and exhibited his artwork professionally since 1975. A former member of the Lillian Paley Center for Visual Arts, in Oakland, California, and a former board member of Delta Arts Association in Pittsburgh, California, he has acquired significant recognition for his talent. Together with Martha Sterling, their collection of paintings and drawings at Stroman Sterling ENT Art Studio promotes African American history, experience, culture, and heritage.

In recognition for his donation to GECU, Toni Moller wrote, "Thank you for your beautiful painting. Your generous donation will be appreciated by our veterans for many years to come."

Howard Stroman served with the 11th Air Assault Division at Fort Benning, Georgia where he was honorably discharged from military service in 1965. He received an Associate Degree in Fine Arts from Laney Community College, Oakland, California in 1997 and currently serves as board president for Villa Borgata HOA in Fresno, California.
