Los Angeles, CA - "Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer ever. Period."

The declaration by Melody Parker of Orlando Florida is being felt by many who are mourning the death of iconic pop legend Michael Jackson. Jackson, 50, was rushed to UCLA Medical Center from his west Los Angeles home Thursday afternoon, where a team of physicians attempted to resuscitate him for more than an hour, said brother Jermaine Jackson.

"It's really sad," said Parker who stood near Jackson's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame along Hollywood Boulevard.

Fans around the world are remembering and honoring the most influential pop singer in music history. Michael Jackson's show-stopping performances and music became ingrained in cultures worldwide.

"We mimicked his style, we wore his spectacular clothes and we emulated his dance moves. Everything he did, we did," said Mybrotha.COM's Clark Solomon. "The landscape of pop music changed when Michael Jackson became its leader. His genius affected almost every piece of music we hear today." said Solomon.

Family, friends and entertainers around the world are expressing grief over the death of Jackson. But they are also remembering the man and his dominance over pop music.

"As the founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET), we owe a great deal of our existence to the genius of Michael Jackson who will forever be remembered as the greatest entertainer and the most dynamic force in the recording industry that the world has ever seen." said Bob Johnson, Robert L. Johnson, owner of the NBA Charlotte Bobcats and founder of Black Entertainment Television. "This is a tragic loss that will be felt around the globe. I extend my most heartfelt sympathy to the Jackson family and his fans worldwide. He will greatly be missed."

Michael Jackson was born August 29, 1958. The son of Joe and Katherine Jackson, Michael begin showing signs of super stardom at an early age. By the time he was 6, he had joined his brothers in a musical group organized by his father. By the time he was 10, the group -- the Jackson 5 -- had been signed to Motown.

A generation of fans and supporters are calling Michael Jackson's death a point in history which will always be remembered. In his death, fans have poured into music stores to buy CDs and the Internet has been flooded with search requests for Michael Jackson. Music and memorabilia stores report huge sales in Michael Jackson's chart-topping albums Thriller, Bad and We Are the World.

Michael Jackson was twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Thirteen of his songs hit No. 1 on world charts and he won 13 Grammy Awards.

The most recognizable name and face in pop music history has died--his legend lives on.
