This Canadian-born singer began singing with her local church at only six years old. Born to a 17-year old single mother, Tamia Washington-Hill ventured into talent contests and volunteered for local theatre productions -- quickly becoming a pop/R&B star in her native Ontario. During the 90's, she received a number of prestigious Canadian music awards, which led to an offer to appear on Quincy Jones' Jook Joint album. Her single from that album "You Put A Move On My Heart", was released as a single in 1996. Tamia is now recognized for such ballads as "Stranger In My House" and "Officially Missing You".
