How we think

Where are you in your life? This question can be difficult to answer for men who are not where they thought they would be, or where they hoped to be. We often rack our brains trying to figure out what is missing, where we went off track, and who or what is to blame. However, this thought process is emotionally destructive and doesn’t lead to betterment. Your beliefs and positive thinking is the key to good health, attaining wealth, and having happiness.

Beliefs are thoughts, and those thoughts power your subconscious mind to affect all phases of your life. This means if you think positively, you can pass those positive thoughts to your subconscious mind for action.

We are perfectly capable of giving the most critical thoughts to our subconscious. These include thoughts of good mental health, good physical health and well-being, and healing. We must frequently remind ourselves that the power of healing is in our own subconscious mind, which means we must provoke healing powers by thinking we are healthy and not ill. The symptoms of almost any disease can be induced by mere thought and suggestion. Many of the world's most respected healers believe that disease begins in the mind, and only appears within the physical body due to mental patterns.

Also, if you are unsettled in your career or having difficulty with maintaining your finances, the answers are very likely rooted in your thought processes. Do you believe financial wealth is your reality, or does it seem like an unattainable goal? How much of your financial goals depend on a particular job/career/business, and how much of it depends on you?

In his book, The Power of the Subconscious Mind, Dr. Joseph Murphy states: "Wealth is simply a subconscious conviction on the part of the individual. You will not become a millionaire by saying, ‘I am a millionaire, I am a millionaire.’ You will grow into a wealth consciousness by building into your mentality the idea of wealth and abundance."

How you think is also critically important to sustaining a rich, fulfilled life. The great motivational speaker Jim Rohn repeated something that was once told to him: “We must learn to work harder on ourselves than we do on our jobs. If you work hard on a job, you can make a living; if you work hard on yourself, you can make a fortune.” Your fortune isn’t necessarily tied to monetary riches; rather, it speaks to the wonders and joys of life, and what we must do to achieve those fortunes.

You have a unique purpose to fulfill -- even if you're not sure what it is. Each one of us has a duty to discover our purpose and the type of impact we will make on others and ourselves. We can accomplish this by feeding our subconscious the desires we wish to see fulfilled.

What you think about and the cognitive processes you undertake are the keys to overcoming depression, building new or rebuilding broken relationships, thriving in your chosen career, attaining wealth, and living a quality life. Clinical studies have shown that positive thoughts and words of affirmation positively influence the mind. Anything worth attaining in life is not only affected by external forces, but profoundly influenced by how we think.
